The Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), within the U.S. Department of Commerce, is seeking nominations for the 2018 National Minority Business Awards. The MBDA National Minority Business Award is the highest level of national recognition that a U.S. minority-owned firm can receive from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross to Join MBDA and NMSDC for 2017 National MED Week and NMSDC Business Conference in Detroit

WASHINGTON (October 23, 2017) — The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) today announced that Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross will participate in the 2017 National Minority Enterprise Development Week celebration and National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) in Detroit. Secretary Ross will provide remarks during the keynote luncheon today at the Cobo Center in Detroit.  

MBDA Announces 2017 National MED WEEK Award Winners

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) today announced the 2017 National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week Award winners. This year the Agency honored 15 minority business enterprises (MBEs), businesses leaders and advocates for their leadership, commitment and excellence in advancing the interests and the economic achievements of the minority business community.

 Global Outreach Alliance to Facilitate Global Expansion and U.S. Job Creation

WASHINGTON (December 7, 2012) —The U.S. Commerce Department’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) and the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) announced a Global Outreach Alliance during the National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week Conference on December 6, 2012.  Both agencies aim to leverage their collective capabilities and resources to promote global projects that increase the opportunities for minority-owned business (MBEs) to export U.S. goods and services and increase the participation of minority-owned businesses in Ex-Im Bank’s financing programs.

The Global Outreach Alliance between MBDA and Ex-Im Bank will seek to increase access to capital for minority-owned firms and encourage the participation of minority-owned businesses in international commerce that ultimately will lead to job creation in America.

WASHINGTON D.C. (September 20, 2011) – The U.S. Commerce Department’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) proudly announces the 2011 National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week award winners. Awardees will be honored at a gala on September 30 in Washington, D.C.

“The minority-owned firms selected are excellent examples of U.S. firms producing American-made products and services that are creating jobs for Americans,” said MBDA National Director David Hinson. “These businesses are helping America ‘win the future’ by boosting our economy and global competitiveness.”

SBA & MBDA Recognize Minority Entrepreneurs and Promote Small Business Growth Strategies During MED Week 2011

WASHINGTON –“Emerging Industries & Markets: A Blueprint for Success” will be the focus of the 29th annual National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week Conference, Sept. 27-30, 2011, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C.

MED Week celebrates the accomplishments of outstanding minority entrepreneurs and leaders and provides a platform for small and minority-owned businesses to learn about business growth strategies, receive premier training and networking opportunities.
