Minority Business Development Agency Announces 2015 National MED Week Award Winners

The U.S. Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) today announced the 2015 National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week Award winners – 14 organizations, businesses, and individuals who demonstrate leadership and commitment in advancing the minority business community. For more than 30 years, MBDA has led the MED Week Celebration.  This year, MBDA is honored to continue the MED Week tradition in partnership with the National Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc.

Ronald H. Brown Leadership Award

Marie C. Johns, Founder L&L Consulting, LLC

Ms. Marie C. Johns, the founder and President of L&L Consulting LLC, has been a leader in business, community and government service for more than 30 years.  From 2010 through June 2013, Ms. Johns was the Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).  In 2011, as a result of her initiatives, the SBA supported more than $30 billion in lending to more than 60,000 small businesses, the most capital going to small business in SBA history. 

National 2010 MED Week Award Winners

Ronald H. Brown Leadership Award - Ronald Davenport, Sr.

Businessman and lawyer Ronald Davenport, Sr. was born in Philadelphia on May 21, 1936.  After earning his B.S. degree in economics from Pennsylvania State University in 1958, Davenport went to law school.  Earning his LL.B. degree from Temple University in 1962, he then went to Yale Law School for his LL.M. in 1963.
